Macrame Workshop in Brooklyn

Macramé, modern creatives

Earlier this month I was in Brooklyn teaching a new kind of workshop in collaboration with my friend Liza who is a florist. We met briefly on her 30th birthday while Adam and I were visiting NYC, and since then we have been getting to know each other through surfing dreams and collaboration scheming.

The class was held in her beautiful Greenpoint studio. We gathered flowers and food from the farmers market and put together a lovely spread for the ladies who came to take the class.

Everyone arrived right on time, and for a June afternoon, the temperature was perfect. I designed tote bags that Adam screen printed for me for everyone to take their macrame arrangements home in.

The workshop began with introductions, while I finished preparing rope for everyone. I tend to give people the basic lesson, and then depending on skill level, each person makes their own special unique plant hanger. It was extra fun this time to collaborate with Liza with the flower portion. I learned a few things too!

I look forward to teaching more of these kinds of workshops and further collaborating with creatives!
